Sauteed Sea Scallops Over Fresh Mozzarella Cheese Recipe

A Valentine’s Day Cooking Video

For the last few days, I have been trying to inspire the guys to cook their favorite Valentine a stay-at-home romantic dinner. They say a picture is worth a thousand words so I wonder what a whole bunch of moving pictures in the form of a video are worth. I can tell you Chef Todd Mohr’s cooking videos are worth the time it takes to watch them. This guy is fantastic and a great teacher. And to think he does these videos himself without any writers or production staff. I have learned so much from watching his Cooking Course videos and I recommend you check them out too. Sauteed Sea Scallops & a Balsamic Vinegar Reduction Over Fresh Mozzarella Cheese

Do I need to say more? I think the title says it all.

Chef Todd offers you some history about aphrodisiac foods, including scallops and how it became the symbol of fertility in this video. He then goes on to show you how to saute sea scallops and why you cook scallops 75% on one side and then 25% on the other. If nothing else, it’s worth watching this video just to watch how to sauté scallops properly.

He then goes on to prepare a simple balsamic vinegar reduction by using the "fond" from cooking the scallops. He uses balsamic vinegar to deglaze the pan, reducing the "pan sauce" down to a syrupy quality. It doesn’t get any simpler than this appetizer that will be perfect for Valentine’s Day.
