Cooking Rut Cartoon

May 8th, 2008 by RG in Cooking Cartoons

It’s time to get creative again and help get out of any cooking rut you might be in. I have a feeling many home cooks including myself, get into a cooking funk once in a while. (See my blog post here and the Reluctant Gourmet Cooking Community Forum responses).

I thought it would be fun to put RG into a cooking rut situation in this cartoon but I need your help coming up with a funny caption for it. If you have ever felt like you were cooking the same 6 or 7 meals week after week, month after month, now’s your opportunity to comment in the form of a cartoon caption. Just post your response below.

What is RG thinking?

Go to the bottom of this blog and post your reply in the “Leave a reply”. Add as many captions as you like but keep them clean and be respectful of your fellow visitors. Any caption that I feel is inappropriate will be deleted.

This is not a contest but….

This is not a contest but I will pick my favorite caption and the author will receive a free copy of a new ecookbook I’m working on with Chef David Nelson and soon to be released. The eCookbook is all about cooking potatoes and will feature over 100 incredible potato recipes and the secrets to preparing them.

I will also make the cartoon available on various items like tee shirts and cooking aprons at Café Press. This means all entries become the property of The Reluctant Gourmet™. Please read Small Print below.

Help Me Pick Your Favorite Cartoon Caption

Choose Your Favorite Cooking Cartoon At My New Cooking Forum

Potato Cartoon

Once again you have come up with over 100 great captions for this cartoon of the Reluctant Gourmet pondering over a huge selection of potatoes. He appears overwhelmed by the number of choices. You can see all the captions here but I need your help choosing your favorite caption from four that I thought were particularly funny.

Here are my top 4 choices for the funniest caption. I did have some help from my wife and a couple of friends and although there were so many great captions, I think these are good choices.

The top choice will be posted on the cartoon and used in a new eCookbook Chef David Nelson and I are working on called The Reluctant Gourmet’s Guide to Great Potatoes that will be available soon.

To vote for your favorite cartoon caption, click on the reply button and let me know.

“Sooo many spuds, so little time….”

“Where are the French Fries?”

“Make something easy,” she says, “like potatoes.”

“And I thought mashed potatoes were going to be easy!”

UPDATE: I’ve picked my favorite caption for this cartoon and it is Ellen Collins’

“Make something easy,” she says, “like potatoes.”

Thank you Ellen for your caption and I will be sending you a copy of Chef David Nelson and my new eCookbook, The Reluctant Gourmet’s Guide To Great Potato Recipes as soon as it comes out.
Let’s Caption Another Cartoon

In two previous cartoons, you came up with some very funny captions so I’m posting this new cartoon to see what you can come up with. Here’s home cook RG at the supermarket looking over a vast display of potatoes looking puzzled.

What is RG thinking?

This is not a contest but….

This is not a contest but I would will be including the cartoon in a new ebook I’m currently working on with Chef David Nelson all about cooking potatoes. The most popular caption will receive a free copy of the ebook. It will include lots of recipes but more importantly loads of techniques, cooking tips and chef’s secrets. I’ll let you know more about it as we get closer to launching it.

I will also make the cartoon available on various items like tee shirts and cooking aprons at Café Press. This means all entries become the property of The Reluctant Gourmet™. Please read Small Print below.
