My dear friend. Enjoy your vacation. This week is supposed to be outstanding. Steamers fall into two categories. Real steamers are the Lipswich clams or soft shelled clams of New England. They steam cherry stone clams (the hard ones). It looks like your steamers are really the cherry stones. They are good, but they are not steamers. Love em both. enjoy!!!
