The capital of California (and the county seat of Sacramento County), Sacramento is the seventh-largest city in the state. In addition, the city of Sacramento is home to over 460,000 residents, making it one of the largest inland cities in California. A combination of El Dorado, Sacramento, Yolo, and Placer counties, Sacramento is largely considered to be the economic and cultural hub of the area.

Music in Sacramento

Home to a healthy music and arts community, the city of Sacramento has been the launching pad for numerous rock bands, including Cake, Tesla, Oleander, A Skylit Drive, Far, Deftones, and Dance Gavin Dance. The city also hosts the Sacramento Music Awards (also known as the “Sammies”), and is known for having a growing Dixieland Jazz community/fan base.

Sports and Recreation in Sacramento

Home to 2 professional basketball teams, both the Sacramento Kings (NBA), and the Sacramento Monarchs (WNBA) call ARCO Arena home. In addition, Sacramento is home to the Sacramento River Cats, a minor league affiliate of the Oakland Athletics. Numerous recreational facilities dot the landscape of Sacramento, including the Jebediah Smith Memorial Trail, which runs from Old Sacramento to Folsom Lake.

Amateur sports enthusiasts will love Sacramento, as the city plays more softball than any other city in the nation. In addition, the Arden Hills Swim Club is located within the city, as the Discovery Park.
