Culinary Arts - Associate of Science Degree
Here you will be given a foundation in purchasing, inventory, food prep and creative culinary training so upon graduation you can comfortably start your career in the culinary world. You can choose between taking your classes daytime or night depending on your current schedule. The requirements for an Associate Degree are 112-120 credit hours.
In your final quarter of study, you will have the opportunity to work at the schools on campus fine dining restaurant called Winston's Restaurant or, with permission, at another approved alternative fine dining establishment. Winston's is a 3 1/2 star restaurant and is recognized as one of the best dining experiences in Kentucky.
Hotel & Restaurant Management - Associate of Science Degree
During your 18 month Associate Degree program you will learn what it takes to start a management career in the Hotel and Restaurant arena. You will be taking both business and general studies classes to learn the skills necessary to enter this career path with knowledge and confidence.
You will also have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in some of the area's restaurants and hotels including the on campus Winston's Restaurant. Some of the classes you will be taking are Lodging Management, Hotel/Restaurant Practicum, Legal Classes, Basic Culinary Theory, food and Beverage Control just to name a few.
Professional Catering - Associate of Science Degree
If you were thinking of starting a challenging career in catering, Sullivan University has a program that will prepare you to enter the field. From Culinary classes to Advanced Catering Business Management, you will have the skill upon graduation to work with or start your own business.
As part of your studies, you will have the opportunity to receive hands on training at Julep's Catering, Sullivan University's professional catering company. By the time you graduate, you will have the skills to find employment working in a catering kitchen, as a party planner, manage a professional catering company or start your own catering business.
Hospitality Management - Bachelor of Science Degree
With a BS in Hospitality Management, you are preparing yourself to obtain an advanced position in the industry and will have a much greater possibility to advance further faster. In order to enter the Bachelor program, an associate degree one of the hospitality majors is required including Culinary Arts, Baking & Pastry Arts, Professional Catering or Hotel & Restaurant Management.
This program was particularly designed for people who are already working but wanted to continue their education in order to advance in their current position or start a whole new career. Most of the junior and senor level classes are conducted in the evening, on weekends or over the Internet

Professional Baker - Diploma
A quick 9 month program to teach you the skills you need to enter into an entry level position in the baking profession. Designed to give you a working knowledge of the procedures, ingredients, and "do's" and "don'ts" to be successful in the world of baking.
As a graduate you will be equipped to prepare yeast-leavened breads and breakfast pastries, pies, cakes, cookies, and a variety of pastries in both large and small quantities. Baking students have the opportunity to study in the University's numerous labs including The Bakery, the University's fully equipped retail bakery, located adjacent to the University.
Professional Cook - Diploma
Similar to the Associate Degree Culinary program but without the general studies. The Professional Cook program is designed to provide you the skills necessary to start entry level position in the restaurant profession. You will learn how to cook in various styles and techniques as well as preparation, storage, nutrition and baking.
To receive a Professional Cook Diploma, you must complete 68 - 72 credit hours and can choose between day or night/weekend classes.
Winston's Restaurant
Kentucky Restaurant Association recognized Winston's as "Restaurant of the Year" and gave it 3 1/2 stars. The restaurant is run by the award-winning instructors from the culinary school and is staffed by the senior culinary and hospitality students. The menu is influenced by world cuisine as well as seasonal regional entrees.
One thing I've learned from visiting culinary school associated restaurants is you usually get a lot of bang for your buck. Yes sometimes you find an inexperienced waiter have trouble opening a bottle of wine, but all in all, the food is good and the price is right.
