Has anyone else been "banned" from this forum lately? I've been assured it is nothing I have done or said to anyone and is probably just a glitch in the system, but it happens about once a week.
This time I didn't contact anyone and it cleared up by itself, but it's annoying. Nancy |

| We've had a tremedous amount of spammers on this site lately, but the only person that can 'ban' anyone is RG & he knows you very well, so it has to be a glitch somewhere. |

Ninjabut, I can assure you I am not banning you and I have no idea why this is happening to you. I have not heard about this from anyone else but if it is, please tell me. If it continues, you may want to sign up again with a name similar to ninjabut to see if that makes a difference. With all the spammers trying to break the system all the time, I am thinking of switching to a new forum software. I just have to find a tech person to help make the switch. This would be happening in the fall sometime.
Again, sorry for the inconvenience,
RG |

I know you weren't banning me! You explained that the first time or 2 I got in touch with you. I just wanted to know if it was happening to anyone else.
Well, the last time it seemed to clear up in a day without me doing anything, so I won't worry too much about it. If it happens again, maybe I'll try an AKA. The thing was that it said I was banned BEFORE I even tried to sign in. It was as soon as I clicked onto the site, wouldn't even let me try to sign in. Ahh Well. It'll get figured out. NT |

well, just to interject a bit of "computer science" . . . .
when I click on my "favorites" link, I get a prompt to "log in"
some Fori using this software have a "automatically log me in" option
bu, if you are seeing the "log in" option, at that point your browser has to transmit you user id and password.
now, as you probably know, computers operate on binary data. for any question, only two binary answers exist: zero and one, or true or false, depends on how one wishes to interpret 'results"
but, for logging in here, reality presents (at least) three results:
(1) you are a member
(2) you are not a member
(3) your user id is banned.
it's an oversimplification, to be sure. factually, the log in sequence should return (any) valid result.
admonition: _read all the following_ before acting....
there are two possibilities:
the host server is out to lunch
or
transmitted data from your computer is 'faulty' / semi-faulty / irregular / inconsistent
yup, should not be so, but with Microsoft, all things are possible.
if you have a cookie manager, you can delete all specific information relating to "reluctant gourmet"
if you do not have an explicit cookie manager, mainstream browsers provide the option to "delete all private information"
if you use this option, see _read all_ caution above. the delete all option will wipe out all cookies, auto-login info, user names, passwords, etc.
this is more or less a problem depending on whether or not you "know" or have "recorded" user id and password info for the sundry and various sites you routinely visit. |

OK, NORMALLY I get the log in option and have not done the log me in automatically option. When this happens, I don't get the option to log in. I get an automatic "you have been banned..."
My computer is going down hill, so it may possibly be my computer that is the problem. I'll have my hubby teach me to do the cookie thing and try that. NT |
