We're going to our cabin at the Russian River. The town is only about 1200 people, but it draws thousands for it's hokey 4th celebration!
The local fire station puts on a chicken/rib BBQ, then you head down to the beach at dark.
This is our 2nd year setting up a whole living room on the beach! LOL. We have a woven mat rug, a bamboo couch that one person can carry, a wicker rocking chair, a few solar lights and were the best furnished spot on the beach!
Then comes the "floatilla" It can be as few as 3 and as many as 15 "floats", made on canoes , made by individuals, groups, schools, bars, etc etc. VERY funny!
Lastly, is the water curtain! LOL I think they have been using the same slide projector for 30 years or more! The bulb is getting pretty dim! Everyone sings the SSB and Grand ole Flag etc.
As for the menu, to stay on topic...........Hmmmm, it's supposed to heat back up for the weekend, so I'm sure we'll just BBQ (OK gill) all weekend.
I made some pesto for DD's BD so I will make a pesto salad. Bring the last of the greens from the garden before they bolt and pull some green onions. No other vegies yet!

Our son & his family are coming from LV. We're going to camp at Lake Heron NM. No motorhome, we camp old school, in tents in the unimproved areas. We're going to bring our smoker & do a pork loin with leftovers for sandwiches next lunch. Cold salads & fruit. Probably grill steaks, corn & new potatoes the next night. Cast iron skillet for bacon & eggs. Cowboy coffee.

Solar shower (big black vinyl bag) gets water plenty hot enough for clean up & is a lot easier than boiling water.

Granddaughter says she has never peed outside. he he! DIL has apparently bought out Eddie Bauer. Off to adventure!
