About Star Career Academy

Although started in 1935 when it was known as the New Tork Institute of Dietetics, Star Career Academy became the New York Food and Hotel Management School in 1970 to train professionals to work in the expanding food service industry of the time. Throughout the years, it added various courses in hospitality and restaurant management, eventually gaining it the name the New York Food and Hotel and Restaurant Management School. This came to a culmination in 2005, when it changed its name to Star Career Academy.

The three culinary- and hospitality-based programs offered by the school are Commercial Cooking and Catering, Commercial Cooking, and Hotel and Restaurant Management. All three programs are considered performance-based and hands-on. Students are expected to fully participate in learning the skills necessary to find successful post-graduation employment.

To this end, the professional courses all include externships and/or internships that promote real-world education and experience. All three programs are supported by the International Food Safety council to prepare students to receive ServSafe certification.
