Founded in 1980, New England Culinary Institute has grown into a school with over 500 students over the course of its 29 year history. Offering personalized instruction, small class sizes, the real-life learning experience that is New England Culinary Institute is geared toward the success and excellence of all culinary and hospitality management graduates.

Offering 8 programs in the areas of culinary arts, hospitality management, restaurant management, pastry, and baking, New England Culinary Institute still operates on its original educational model: to immerse students in a supportive learning environment, giving them the opportunity to work with Master Chefs and other industry professionals in order to prepare them for successful careers in the culinary or hospitality industry.

Baking and Pastry Arts

An Associate's Degree program, the Baking and Pastry Arts curriculum at New England Culinary Institute is focused on the essential skills that students will need in order to create delicious bakery items and pastry showpieces. While students will get a chance to hone their baking and pastry skills in the school-owned La Brioche Bakery & Cafe, the Baking and Pastry Arts program also includes 2 six-month paid professional internships.

Culinary Arts

New England Culinary SchoolsOffering a 10:1 student ratio, the Culinary Arts program at NECI is available in either an Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree format. While hands-on training equips graduates with the skills needed in order to become a successful member of the culinary arts community, these programs also give students the type of training needed in order to stand out in this exciting career field.

At the Bachelor degree level, the Culinary Arts curriculum includes 3 6-month long campus residencies, in addition to 3 paid internships. The Bachelor degree in Culinary Arts program also focuses on managing front and back of house restaurant operations, in addition to basic culinary arts skills. At the Associate's degree level, the program is a little different, as it includes 2 6-month internships and 2 paid internships, and focuses primarily on culinary arts skills alone.

Hospitality and Restaurant Management

Also available in Associate degree and Bachelor degree formats, New England Culinary Institute's Hospitality and Restaurant Management program is designed place students in lucrative management programs in just a short period of time. Equipping students with management skills, this program also focuses on food production and wine service.

At the Associate degree level, the Hospitality and Restaurant Management program is 15 months long, and includes training in both classroom and kitchen environments. The Bachelor degree in Hospitality and Restaurant Management program also includes and even split of hands-on kitchen training and classroom instruction, and can be completed in as little as 15 months.

 

Professional Baking - Certificate

The Certificate in Professional Baking program at NECI lasts 15 weeks, and includes a 6-month internship at a top baking facility. Focusing on the foundations of professional baking, this program includes instruction in knife skills, sanitation, food safety, and cooking theory. Featuring small class sizes and hands-on instruction, the Professional Baking program is a great way to pursue employment as a member of a baking and pastry team.

Professional Cooking - Certificate

Designed to prepare graduates for entry-level positions as a line cook, banquet cook, or prep cook, the Professional Cooking program at New England Culinary Institute is a Certificate course of study. A 15 week program, this hands-on training program in the culinary arts includes a paid internship at a local culinary facility. If you're interested in laying a solid foundation for a career in the culinary arts, this might be the perfect program for you!

Professional Pastry - Certificate

The Professional Pastry Certificate at New England Culinary Institute is designed to prepare graduates for entry-level employment as a pastry cook in a bakery, restaurant, or commercial kitchen. A hands-on training curriculum, the Certificate in Professional Pastry lasts 15 weeks, and includes a 700-hour paid internship. Laying a solid foundation in the pastry and culinary arts, the 10:1 student to teacher ratio in this program is designed towards giving each student an individualized training experience.

Accreditation

The Montpelier, VT campus of New England Culinary Institute is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology. In addition, the school is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education to award degrees.

Financial Aid

Students interested in financial aid should compete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form to help find applicable state grants and federal funding sources.
