About The New England Culinary institute
Throughout 27 years of successfully educating students in the culinary arts, NECI has grown from seven to over 500 students of diverse backgrounds and ages. The school has demonstrated its uniqueness by offering small classes, personal attention, and real life experience for each student who walks in the door.
Founded in 1980, its mission was originally to create a new education model by immersing students from the first day as apprentices to Master Chefs. With one instructor for every ten students, graduates were expected to be fully prepared through personal attention from Chef instructors and other industry professionals.
NECI now offers eight programs in the areas of culinary arts, baking and pastry, and hospitality and restaurant management. Graduates of the traditional courses offered through New England Culinary Institute can anticipate being leaders in their chosen field, which can range from chefs and food writers to pastry chefs and food and beverage managers.
Programs Offered
The online degree program at NECI offers a BA in Hospitality and Restaurant Management, which prepares students to develop entrepreneurial and managerial skills. Matters of finance, technology, service, human resources, purchasing, and communication are just a few of the areas in which NECI’s Hospitality and Restaurant Management students are trained.
In this program, students develop critical and creative thinking skills necessary to industry success, and graduates receive a degree from one of the most respected culinary schools in the country while not having to relocate or forfeit a current job. Enrollment is offered year-round, while 12 six-week segments allow continual credit accumulation. Actual work experience and online discussion boards are integrated with course work, creating an optimum virtual experience.
Requirements For Admission
Requirements for admission include an Associates degree, as well as one of the following: active employment in industry-related field, or two years of prior supervisory experience in the food and beverage industry. The total 72 weeks of instruction prepare graduates to fill positions such as banquet or events director, restaurant manager, or assistant general manager.

The faculty of New England Culinary Institute is committed to offering personal instruction for every student. NECI has a total faculty of 84, all of whom have impressive educational credentials and expansive experience in the food and beverage industry. Facility
Students studying on location attend the private, co-educational campuses in Montpelier and Essex Junction, Vermont. However, at NECI, online coursework is designed to allow students to continue their educations without the necessity of changing location. Living and studying at home gives students the opportunity to keep their current jobs and still study at a world-class culinary school. This means that all online materials are provided with the intent to replicate the traditional classroom setting.

New England Culinary Institute offers information and services to help students find the right financial aid for their education. Most prospective students can find guidance from the school's financial aid office in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form, applying for applicable state grants, obtaining veteran scholarships, securing government and private loans, as well as applying for NECI’s own available scholarships.
