Platt College has a campus in both central and north Oklahoma City. Platt’s Oklahoma City North Campus is home to a culinary school and a variety of other career-training programs in allied health care, hospitality and restaurant management.

About Platt College

Platt College offers programs in allied health care, nursing, and culinary arts that are intended to prepare students for careers in the real world. Platt College recognizes that each student is unique and therefore tailors and their educational programs to meet the needs of the individual student. Platt’s mission is to “provide an environment conducive to personal and professional growth, which can allow students to pursue their career goals and meet industry demands.”

Platt College has three dining establishments in Oklahoma City: Chefs Di Domani, Café Broccato, and Foundations Restaurant. Culinary students work under the supervision and direction of professional chefs to serve the Oklahoma City community. Many of the professional chefs working in the restaurants are Platt College graduates.

Culinary Arts

The North Oklahoma City campus is home to a culinary school that offers The Associate of Science Culinary Arts degree program for aspiring chefs. Students in the program have the opportunity to learn both innovative and traditional cooking techniques. Students work in small groups and have the chance to apply their skills in a professional restaurant at one of the three Platt dining establishments in Oklahoma. The program consists of 111.00 quarter credit hours and is intended to be completed in roughly 15 months. Every month, students in the culinary arts program engage in a “Food Fight.” Platt’s Food Fight consists of students preparing desserts and courses in a competition setting. The event helps students hone their cooking and baking skills and techniques in front of an audience.

Financial Aid

Financial aid is available for those who qualify. Students seeking financial aid are required to meet with a Platt Financial Services Officer upon applying for admission. Financial aid options offered at Platt include Direct and Federal Family Education Loans, Federal Pell Grants, and Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants. Platt’s Restaurants  

Platt’s three restaurants in Oklahoma are important facilities connected to their culinary and pastry arts programs. Students have the opportunity to gain real-world experience while working in the restaurants underneath the supervision of a professional.

Chefs Di Domani Restaurant is located right off of John Kilpatrick Turnpike and offers high end dishes that are a mix of American and Internationally-influenced cuisine. The menu includes pastas, seafood, steak, and many more appetizers and main dishes.

Café Broccato is an Italian restaurant staffed by current Platt students and graduates. Café Broccato offers breakfast, lunch, and brunch meals that are influenced by Mediterranean and Italian cuisine. The café includes a self-serve pasta bar, an expansive desert menu, and a signature sun-dried tomato pesto pizza.

Platt’s Foundations Restaurant offers modern American fine dining provided by their up-and-coming student chefs. Popular menu items at Foundations Restaurants include their grilled ribeye of beef and lemon chiffon cake.

Accreditation

Platt College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). The Associate of Science in Culinary Arts and Pastry Arts Programs are accredited by the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation Accrediting Commission (ACFEFAC).

Going to School in Oklahoma City

Founded in 1889, Oklahoma City is the capital and largest city in the state of Oklahoma. Often referred to as “OKC,” Oklahoma City is home to one of the largest livestock markets in the world. The largest part of the local economy is oil, natural gas, and petroleum products.

In terms of art and culture, the city is home to the Oklahoma City Museum of Art which features visiting exhibits, original pieces, a restaurant, and a theatre showing a variety of foreign and independent films. The Civic Center Music Hall, recently renovated, includes performances from the Oklahoma City Ballet, opera, as well as Broadway shows.

Prominent landmarks include Crystal Bridge, a downtown urban park, as well as the Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden. Residents also frequent the Martin Park Nature Center which is a natural habitat in northwest Oklahoma City. Chesapeake Energy Arena in downtown Oklahoma City is home to the city’s only major professional sports team, the Oklahoma City Thunder of the National Basketball Association.
