Here's my Reluctant Gourmet 2012 Holiday Wish List
It's that time of the year when I like to browse through the hundreds of catelogs sent to our house searching for those special holiday gifts fit for foodies like myself. It may be a new kitchen gadget I haven't seen yet or some gourmet item that would be fun to cook with. My wife doesn't think there's any more room in our house for another small appliance but isn't that what guest room closets are for?
Here are a few items I found at Amazon where I purchase many of my holiday gifts. I can find the best prices at Amazon and with my Prime account, they ship me most items in 2-days for FREE. I love Free shipping!
As I look for something new, I'm finding it more and more difficult because as you can imagine, I get a lot of cooking stuff from friends and family. If you have anything new you think I should consider, please let me know in the comments section below.
If you are just looking for some great stocking stuffers, check out my Stocking Stuffer Idea page. For more of my favorite cooking items, go to my Cook's Resources page.
On My List This Year
The Cuisinart Griddler is actually five appliances in one. A hinged, floating cover and one set of removable and reversible cooking plates turn the Griddler into a contact grill, panini press, full grill, full griddle, or half grill/half griddle. Dual temperature controls and indicator lights make this product easy to use. Dishwasher-safe plates, integrated drip tray and a cleaning/scraping tool make cleanup fast and easy |

I have never heard of these stones before but my buddy Greg, ex-professional bartender thinks they're awesome so I'm putting them on this years list. Sipping Stones is the aficionado's choice for chilling a drink. It cools your drink perfectly without the dilution from melting ice. Now all your favorite drinks are able to be served the way they were intended to be, perfectly pure and precisely chilled. |

I already own a hand blender. In fact, I've owned the same one for over 15 years and it still works fine but maybe it's time for a new one. I've definitely got my money's worth from my current model but the new ones are a little more powerful, easier to clean and ergonomically designed. Perfect for blending soups and sauces or making smoothings without having to pull out the blender and much easier to clean. |

This is one of those items that you don't have to own but it would be fun to make your own fizzy water. The Jet soda maker carbonates water in a reusable one-liter bottle in less than 30 seconds, without electricity or batteries, and with no clean-up. It reminds me when I was a little kid and my dad would make adult beverages with soda water.

Presto Cool Daddy Electric Fryer I'm in the market for a new deep fryer and this may be the perfect gift to give my wife. We don't do a lot of deep frying in our house but I think if I had a model like this one, I may try my hand at some fried calamari or shrimp tempura. This Presto CoolDaddy electric deep fryer includes several features that help you make tasty fried chicken, fish, shrimp, and French fries for up to six people. Its adjustable thermostat ranges from 250 to 375 degrees F, and its bright red indicator light signals when the oil has reached the desired temperature so food cooks no longer than necessary. |
