Programs of Study
The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Dallas students come to them from different levels of experience but they all share the same thing – a passion for cooking. And they know something else: There are no shortcuts to a great culinary education. It’s why they are there.
Certificate in Culinary Arts: Provides students with fundamentals in culinary techniques, food production skills and critical thinking skills. Students will study the fundamentals of cooking, baking and pastry, as well as the art of the cold kitchen. Food production skills are complimented with basic food service management skills. Graduates of the program compete for entry-level positions in the food service industry.
Associate of Applied Science in Culinary Arts: Gain practical experience in the kitchen while studying the business of cost control, sanitation and safety, menu and beverage management, nutrition, and kitchen management. You’ll learn to produce food quickly and in quantity while working with others.
Associate of Applied Science in Baking & Pastry: Emphasis is placed on fundamental pastry and bread-baking techniques, in addition to all-purpose baking, desserts, cake decoration, and pastry arts. To complement your culinary techniques, you’ll learn critical thinking and business essentials.
Certificate in Baking & Pastry: a program combining hands baking with an emphasis on pastry and bread making with business skills and critical thinking.
There is a focus on the development of presentation, teamwork, and time management skills. Instructors will also give an advanced course in food preparation that will also you to create delicious dishes from even the most basic ingredients.
Graduates from this program will be able to join the food service industry in entry-level positions such as line cook, prep cook and first cook in food service facilities such as hotels the world over.
