Culinary Arts – Associate of Art
The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Virginia Beach is pleased to offer prospective students an AA in Culinary Arts degree program. In addition to learning about sanitation, cost control, safety, kitchen management, and menu/beverage management, students will learn the basics of nutrition. A hands-on training program, graduates will be well-prepared to seek entry-level employment as a line cook or pantry cook.
Culinary Arts Management – Bachelor of Science
Beginning with basic culinary schools and moving through advanced culinary techniques, the Bachelor of Science in Culinary Arts Management program from The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Virginia Beach is a well-rounded program, including training in human resources, restaurant management, and the financial/legal aspects of the restaurant industry. A hands-on course of study, graduates of the BS in Culinary Arts Management degree program will be well-prepared to seek employment in the culinary arts industry.
Diploma in Culinary Arts: This diploma program in Culinary Arts prepares students with a hands-on approach for entry-level employment in various food service positions. Students in this program will learn fundamental skills in culinary arts as well as: food preparation methods, sanitation & safety, nutrition, regional and worldly cuisines and more. Instructors will also give students a practical hands-on knowledge of the realities in today’s food service industry with live demonstrations in a professional environment.
Diploma in Baking & Pastry: This hands-on diploma program teaches students the fundamental techniques, skills and industry practices in baking and pastry arts. Students learn modern techniques to traditional industry standards and are prepared for entry-level employment for careers such as pastry cooks, entry-level bakers, entry-level prep cooks, entry-level line cooks and more.
Private loans, federal assistance, and state grants and loans are accepted for those students who qualify. Other financial assistance programs include a system for payment plans and budgeting guidelines. The Financial Aid Office offers help to all students with applications, finding funding options, and simply answering questions or concerns. They may occasionally provide information on scholarship opportunities. Financial aid is available for those who qualify.
The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Virginia Beach is located in temporary facilities at Suite 100, Two Columbus Center, 4500 Main Street, Virginia Beach, VA. The temporary campus includes offices, labs, and classrooms, and the permanent facilities will also include a computer lab.
