1 cocktail shaker
1 Margarita glass
- 2 ounces tequila
- 1 ounce lime juice freshly squeezed
- ½ ounce tripe sec or Cointreau
- salt for riming the glass, optional
- lime wedge for garnish
Rim the glass by rubbing a lime wedge around the rim of the glass, then dip the rim in salt to coat.
In a shaker, combine the tequila, lime juice, and orange liqueur.
Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds.
Strain the mixture into the salt-rimmed glass over ice.
Garnish the drink with a lime wedge and enjoy.
You can adjust the amount of lime juice or orange liqueur to suit your taste preferences. Some people prefer their margaritas more tart, while others prefer them sweeter. You can also use different types of tequila such as blanco, reposado or añejo.
This recipe yields one classic margarita, you can multiply the ingredients to make more than one. If you prefer a frozen margarita, you can blend the ingredients with ice in a blender instead of shaking them.
